This seminar is the result of an international cooperation between the University of São Paulo, the University of Birmingham and University College London in the United Kingdom, and the University of the Free State, in South Africa, through the PANEX-YOUTH project - Adaptations of young people in vulnerable communities to survive and recover from COVID-19 and associated constraints.

This meeting aims to discuss with international researchers about the challenges that the pandemic of COVID-19 has promoted to life in large cities, focusing on adaptation strategies led by children, youth and communities in contexts of urban vulnerability. The event is organized in two panel discussions, with the participation of some invited international researchers and mediation by guests from the IEA's thematic groups.

The first panel will focus on the lessons learnt from the pandemic to reflect on urban planning, particularly on adaptation strategies and temporary urbanism practices adopted by young people and communities in contexts of urban vulnerability. In turn, the second panel will discuss the role of interdisciplinary research to reflect on the health and well-being of these vulnerable populations considering the post-pandemic context.
