IEA’s Innovation and Competitiveness Observatory (NAP-OIC) Research Group will discuss the shortage of engineers in the Brazilian labor market in the seminar ‘Faltam Engenheiros? De Que Tipo, Onde, Por Quê? Quais as Perspectivas?’ on August 30, at 11 am.

IEA’s Innovation and Competitiveness Observatory (OIC) Research Group will discuss the shortage of engineers in the Brazilian labor market in the seminar ‘Faltam Engenheiros? De Que Tipo, Onde, Por Quê? Quais as Perspectivas?’ (Is there a lack of engineers? What kind of? Where? Why? What are the Prospects?) on August 30, at 11 am, in IEA’s Event Room. Exhibitors will be Guilherme Lima (Whirlpool), Mario Salerno (OIC), Leonardo Melo Lins (ICO), Bruno Araújo (OIC) and Demétrio Toledo (OIC).

The researchers will use the information gathered from the EngenhariaData project's survey, interviews in companies and an analysis of the various population censuses as references. According to the organizers, although the number of engineering graduates grows at a rate higher than the GDP, overall employment and employment in engineering, Brazil faces an apparent blackout in the area. The purpose of the seminar is to discuss this possible paradox from the treatment of the data collected.

The event will be broadcast live from IEA's Event Room at www.iea.usp.br/aovivo.
