Intercontinental Academia: new open call deadline announced

The application period for the Intercontinental Academia has been extended to August 17. This project is an initiative of Ubias (University-Based Institute for Advanced Study), a network that brings together 34 institutes of advanced studies from around the world. Time was chosen as the main theme, since its concept is usually different in each area of knowledge, whether in the humanities or in natural sciences. The IASs that will organize this first edition of the project are the IEA-USP and the Institute for Advanced Research of Nagoya University, Japan.

Experts discuss the political legacy of Octavio Paz

The centenary of the birth of Mexican poet and essayist Octavio Paz, Nobel Prize in Literature 1990, will be celebrated with the conference Octavio Paz and Politics by historian Francisco Javier Garciadiego Dantán, president of El Colegio de México, on July 31, at 11:30 am (GMT -3). Organised by IEA-USP in partnership with El Colegio de México, the event will have as debaters the professors Celso Lafer, president of São Paulo Research Foundation, and Carlos Guilherme Mota, director of Guita and José Mindlin Brasiliana Library. Jorge Schwartz, director of Lasar Segall Museum, will be the moderator.
