Seminar analyzes the National Program for Knowledge Platforms

IEA's Innovation and Competitiveness Observatory (OIC) Research Group will hold a seminar to discuss the characteristics and the expected effects of the National Program for Knowledge Platforms (PNPC) on September 26, at 10 am (GMT -3), at USP's Polytechnic School (Poli). The presentation of the PNPC, launched by the federal government on June 25, will be in charge of sociologist Glauco Arbix, president of Finep (Financier of Studies and Projects). The panelists will be the vice president of USP, Vahan Agopyan, the provost for research, José Eduardo Krieger, and Antonio Mauro Saraiva, a professor at Poli. Moderation will be in charge of OIC's coordinator, Mario Salerno.

Exploring animal subjectivity

The various aspects involved in the study of animal subjectivity will be discussed at the sixth meeting of the cycle of conferences and debates Humans and Animals: The Limits of Mankind. Organized by IEA's Philosophy, History, and Sociology of Science and Technology Research Group, the event will include two roundtables, taking place on September 29-30, both at 9.30 am (GMT -3), in the Auditorium of USP's Museum of Contemporary Art (MAC). Among the issues to be addressed are the manifestations of subjectivity, the possibility of a death awareness, the perception of temporality and the presence of autonomy among animals.

REPORT

The future of love in the era of future technologies

The seminar Love in Technological Times: "Her" in Solitude, held by IEA's Research Group The Future Inquires Us on August 11, was based on the movie "Her" (2013), by American filmmaker Spike Jonze, to discuss issues such as the relations between the human and technology, the different forms of love in a post-human context, and the place of technological resources in socialization. The meeting has inaugurated the cycle Life Today: Love, Art, Politics. The debaters were philosopher Renato Janine Ribeiro, coordinator of the research group, anthropologist Massimo Canevacci, visiting professor at the IEA, and philosopher Olgária Matos, coordinator of IEA's Humanities and the Contemporary World Research Group.
