New issue of "Estudos Avançados" discusses the relations between society and environment, and between science and values

Issue 82 of IEA-USP's journal "Estudos Avançados" contains articles divided into two thematic parts: "Society and Environment" and "Science, Values and Alternatives 1". The first part comprises texts on broad conceptual debates, focusing on sustainability, energy and public perception of climate change, and more specific issues facing the realities of Brazil and São Paulo. The second part presents studies developed by IEA-USP's Philosophy, History, and Sociology of Science and Technology Research Group, focusing on theoretical contributions of the Interaction Model between the Scientific Activities and Values.

An unidentified graphic object ponders academic experimentation

The IEA launches a sui generis publication. No title, no defined periodicity and no content restrictions. This graphic object allows diverse treatment to texts and images originally published in the Institute's website, in order to establish a two-way track in which the digital and the non-digital interact and complement each other. This first "issue" brings reports on the main debates and conferences held in 2013, and interviews with visiting professors of the Institute. The highlight, including the graphic point of view, are the texts containing ideas of the participants of the two meetings about the nature and the consequences of the street demonstrations in June 2013.
