Book on the 2013-2015 water crisis may have lessons for the current situation

At a time when the possibility of a new water crisis is being evaluated it is worth resuming the analysis of the intense drought in 2013-2015, which substantially affected the water supply in Southeastern Brazil. One of the most critical situations was that suffered by the Metropolitan Region of São Paulo. During that period, research groups of the IEA held several academic meetings to analyze what had happened and to discuss policies, strategies, and actions to mitigate the risks of a new similar episode. These discussions have resulted in the "Livro Branco da Água – A Crise Hídrica na Região Metropolitana de São Paulo em 2013-2015 – Origens, Impactos e Soluções" (or "The White Paper of Water" – The Water Crisis in the Metropolitan Region of São Paulo in 2013-2015 – Origins, Impacts, and Solutions”), co-edited by the IEA and the São Paulo State Academy of Sciences (ACIESP), and published in 2018. The work was organized by Marcos Buckeridge, then president of ACIESP, and Wagner Costa Ribeiro, a researcher at IEA's Environment and Society Research Group.
