EXHIBITION

IEA and ZiF promote the exhibition "Grace at the boundary of knowledge" at the MariAntonia Center

The exhibition "Grace at the boundary of knowledge," by artist Sandra Boeschenstein, will be inaugurated at the University of São Paulo's MariAntonia Cultural Center on August 6, at 11:00 am. Boeschenstein's drawings analyze the interaction between perception and thought, exploring the border between tangible and intangible, between image and language, and between information and poetry. At the opening, at 12:00 pm, there will be a talk with the artist. Bielefeld University's Center for Interdisciplinary Research (ZiF) is IEA's partner in organizing the exhibition.

President of the New Development Bank (NDB) gives a conference at USP on August 10

On August 10, at 11:00 am, sociologist Marcos Prado Troyjo, president of the New Development Bank (NDB) – formerly referred to as the BRICS Development Bank, based in Shanghai –, will be the speaker in the second webinar of the series "USP and the Global Governance," organized by the President's Office and the IEA. Troyjo will speak about "The New Chapter of Globalization: Governance & Knowledge." The series is dedicated to meetings with leaders of influential bodies in global governance. The event will be opened by USP's President Carlos Gilberto Carlotti Jr. and by the director of the IEA, Guilherme Ary Plonski.

Dênis de Moraes will address the role of intellectuals in times of crisis at a meeting of the Otavio Frias Filho Chair

Journalist, writer, and a professor at Fluminense Federal University (UFF), Dénis de Moraes will be the presenter at the eighth webinar of the 2021/22 Annual Cycle of the Otavio Frias Filho Chair of Studies in Communication, Democracy, and Diversity, a partnership between the IEA and the newspaper Folha de S. Paulo. On August 18, at 3:00 pm, Moraes will give the conference "Intellectuals in Times of Crisis: The Battle of Ideas, Democracy, and Pluralism." The cycle is coordinated by the current holder of the Chair, sociologist of communication Muniz Sodré, from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, who will act as a debater at the event.

Event discusses racial equality policies in Brazil

On August 19, at 3:00 pm, IEA's Human Rights, Democracy, and Memory Research Group will host the webinar "Construction, Dismantling, and Reconstruction of Racial Equality Policies in Brazil." The meeting resumes the Cycle of Memories of Construction and Dismantling of Human Rights Policies in Brazil, a project started in 2021 with the proposal to be a space for dialogue with secretaries and ministers who occupied the Secretariats of Human Rights in their different institutional formations until the government of Dilma Rousseff.
