Hernan Chaimovich
Hernan Chaimovich graduated in Biochemistry from the Universidad de Chile in 1962. In 1968, he became a Special Professor of Biochemistry at the UCh. He holds PhD in Biochemistry from USP's Institute of Chemistry (IQ-USP), where he became a Full Professor in 1984. From 1965 to 1966 and from 1966 to 1967, Chaimovich was an associate researcher at the University of California Santa Barbara and at Harvard University, respectively, institutions at which he conducted research on organic physical chemistry. He has been president of the Brazilian Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (1994–1995), Head of the Biochemistry Department of the IQ-USP (1985–1989 and 1994–1996), Coordinator of USP's Molecular Sciences Department (1990–1994), Dean for Research at USP (1997–2001), and director of the IQ-USP (2002–2006). His principal topic of research is the effect of interfaces on chemical and biological reactivity. |
