The Institute of Advanced Studies has organized two major cycles on advanced studies.

From June 7 to 11, 2010, IEA in partnership with UNICAMP's Institute of Language Studies (IEL) performed the ‘São Paulo School of Advanced Studies in Speech Dynamics’, an initiative sponsored by FAPESP and supported by CNPq. It was attended by 60 experts from various countries and organized by: Eleonora Albano, from IEL-UNICAMP; Didier Demolin, from USP’s Faculty of Philosophy, Letters and Human Sciences (FFLCH) and the Université Libre de Bruxelles; Beatriz Raposo de Medeiros, from FFLCH-USP, and Rui Rothe-Neves, from UFMG ‘s Faculty of Letters. The ‘Brazil-USA Biofuels Short Course: Providing Interdisciplinary Education in Biofuels Technologies’ has been an initiative of the Biofuels’ Network of the US-Brazil Council of Higher Education and the IEA, with support from FAPESP’s Program for Bioenergy Research (BIOEN) in technical and scientific coordination and sponsorship of CNPq. Fulbright Commission in Brazil was in charge of the general coordination. The goals of the initiative were: to promote interdisciplinary education in biofuels among graduate students and Brazilian and American professionals working in the area; to facilitate interexchanges between institutions of higher and scientific education, and other Brazilian and American public and private organizations through the Biofuels’ Network of the US-Brazil Council of Higher Education.
