The Maria Sibylla Merian Center for Advanced Latin American Studies (CALAS) is accepting applications for six 4 to 8-month residence fellowship for experienced senior researchers. According to the CALAS research program, applicants are expected to contribute to the development of new methodological and analytic approaches to understand the changes and crises in Latin America. CALAS also accepts applications for two dual research fellowship (up to six months each) inside its program "Transatlantic Tandem," one located at its headquarters in Guadalajara, Mexico, the other one located at its regional office in San José, Costa Rica. Two researchers – one affiliated with a Latin American academic institution and the other one affiliated with a German academic institution – will work collaboratively on a particular research topic related to the CALAS overall research approach.
Collegium Helveticum, Switzerland

The Collegium Helveticum is pleased to share the new fellowship programme, starting at 1 September 2021. As an Institute for Advanced Studies (IAS) run jointly by ETH Zurich, the University of Zurich and Zurich University of the Arts, the Collegium seeks to promote exchange and collaboration across disciplinary boundaries. Up to eight scholars and artists will have the opportunity to spend 10 months in 2021/22 as junior fellows at the Collegium Helveticum, located in the ETH Zurich's historical observatory («Semper Observatory»).
The call is open for early-career researchers working in any academic or artistic disciplines at postdoc or equivalent level (for artists). Junior fellows receive a grant in the form of a full-salaried post at ETH Zurich. The fellows will be able to pursue individual projects and become part of the Collegium’s international network and fellow community. The Collegium’s work and meeting rooms, its new art and exhibition spaces and its various opportunities for exchange and interaction offer ideal conditions for a thriving culture of dialogue and a creative environment for innovative academic and artistic projects.

University of Ghana, Ghana

The Maria Sibylla Merian Institute for Advanced Studies in Africa (MIASA) offers five Individual Fellowships (Junior/ Senior) for 3-5 months each at the University of Ghana for the period between 15 January and 31 July 2022.
The fellowships will allow researchers to conduct a project of their own choice. These projects can be of an opening, continuing, or closing nature. The successful applicants will become MIASA Fellows with all the corresponding rights and obligations for the agreed fellowship period.
University of Edinburgh, Scotland
The Institute for Advanced Studies in the Humanities (IASH) is pleased to announce a new three-year project examining a variety of topics centred on decoloniality. The Institute Project on Decoloniality 2021-2024 (IPD ‘24) is now open for applications. The Institute and its partners warmly encourages Fellowship applications from scholars around the world, exploring issues including but not limited to: decolonising gender and sexuality, anticolonial and decolonial theory, race and racialisation, and Scotland’s role in the British Empire. Junior Anniversary Fellowship 2021-22

This ten-month Fellowship is for the most promising early-career scholars in the arts, humanities and social sciences. For 2021-22, we seek applications centred on the place of the humanities in the 21st century to take forward inquiry in a cross-disciplinary way, perhaps at the outermost boundaries of the humanities, arts and social sciences. £15,000 bursary available.

Applications are invited for three- to six-month Fellowships from postdoctoral scholars in any area of the Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, to examine special collections held at the University of Edinburgh. The collections include archives, manuscripts, rare books, art, musical instruments and other museum collections, many of which have either not been catalogued or not fully researched, presenting novel opportunities to a wide range of scholarly disciplines. Topics for 2021-22 can include Identities & Inequalities, International Connections: Focus on Africa or Materials & Materiality. £7,500 bursary available, plus travel grants.

CSMCH-IASH Visiting Postdoctoral Fellowship in Modern and Contemporary History 2021-22

This three-month Fellowship is intended to encourage outstanding early-career interdisciplinary research and scholarly collaboration in the broad field of modern and contemporary history. The CSMCH has selected an interdisciplinary research theme for this year ('crisis'), which applicants must address. Otherwise, there is no limit on geographical area or time period, as long as the bulk of research falls within the 'modern and contemporary' period (c.1750-present). £3,300 bursary available, plus travel grants.

Digital Scholarship Visiting Research Fellowships 2021- 2022

Applications are invited for three- to ten-month visits from researchers working in the field of contemporary Islam and Muslim culture, in association with the Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Centre for the Study of Islam in the Contemporary World. We would particularly welcome applications linked to the themes of the new Institute Project on Decoloniality. Projects dealing with other themes in relation to the Muslim world will also be fully considered for this round of Fellowships. £13,000 stipend available.
IASH-CTPI Duncan Forrester Fellowship

Applications are invited for three- to ten-month visits from researchers working in any of the research areas of the Centre for Theology and Public Issues (CTPI). The applicant’s project must relate broadly to public theology, in relation to areas such as: peacebuilding and the arts; theology, politics, and migration; theology and environmental ethics; theology, law and justice; and decoloniality. £13,000 stipend available.

Applications are invited from postdoctoral scholars working in any area of the Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, to help provide evidence for research which will be part of the Institute Project on Decoloniality. Using the University of Edinburgh’s own archive and related collections, you will undertake research for three to ten months that uncovers evidence, narratives and addresses the silences in the University’s colonial legacy. In doing your research, you will work with the archivists to feed information back into the descriptions of these collections to readdress the knowledge and access to the collections, people and the stories within them. Stipends of up to £13,000.
