University of Konstanz, Germany

by Richard Meckien - published Jul 11, 2018 02:55 PM - - last modified Oct 17, 2019 08:41 AM

Deadline: October 15, 2018

The Zukunftskolleg is an Institute for Advanced Study at the University of Konstanz for the promotion of outstanding early career researchers in the natural sciences, humanities and social sciences. It forms a platform for interdisciplinary discourse between researchers in Germany and abroad, and provides them with resources for obtaining extramural funding. Researchers at the Zukunftskolleg perform research without administrative constraints and have the freedom to engage in meaningful exchange with other up-and-coming colleagues and with distinguished senior researchers.

The Zukunftskolleg offers:

  • Three 2-year Postdoctoral Fellowships for all those in the early stage of their academic career who plan to develop and implement an independent research project. The target group consists of researchers at the postdoctoral level, who are open-minded, risk-taking and intellectually gifted, so that they can reasonably be expected to take up leading roles in academia;
  • Two 5-year Research Fellowships to promote researchers with significant work experience at the postdoctoral level aiming for a career in academia. The Fellows build their own academic identity by leading an independent research group at the University of Konstanz. These fellowships are available to researchers characterised by a strong and creative mind, an ability to think and communicate beyond their own disciplines, regardless of their nationality.

Both Fellowships are open to researchers from all fields represented at the University of Konstanz.
