He will present current research on "Knowledge Architectures," the core area of the Excellence Cluster Image Knowledge Gestaltung. The conference Architectures of Knowledge: About Interdisciplinary Research on Games, Virtuality and the Global Museum will be broadcast live in the IEA website.

According to the conferencist, science and research need to communicate with a new audience, so museums, exhibitions and open science labs are proving to be promising playgrounds to try new ways of communicating and translating into new media. By addressing these themes, Stein will also cite research in highly interdisciplinary teams and interdisciplinarity itself.

Moderation will be in charge of Martin Grossmann, coordinator of the Research Group Fórum Permanente: Cultural System Between Public and Private, which organizes the meeting. The comments will be made by Gilson Schwartz, from USP's School of Communications and Arts (ECA), Giselle Beiguelman, from USP's Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism (FAU), Davi Nakano, from USP's Polytechnic School (EP), Wilson Mizutani, from USP's Institute of Mathematics and Statistics (IME), and Ricardo Karman, from Kompanhia of Centro de Terra.

The host institution of the meeting is the Peter Wall Institute for Advanced Studies at the University of British Columbia.

The theme of the meeting is ‘Scientific and Academic Knowledge’. It is an initiative of the UBIAS network to strengthen the relationship between its members and expand knowledge globally. Researchers at different stages of two career areas, the humanities and the natural sciences, will have the opportunity to share ideas with each other, graduate students and the audience during the three-day meeting. The IEA will be represented by its director, Martin Grossmann, and the advisor Guilherme Ary Plonski, exhibitors of the panel ‘Curating Knowledge’, which will present the concept of ‘meta-curatorship’ deployed at the institute on September 19. The proposal involves interdisciplinary work with researchers and coordinators with the purpose of motivating the formation of networks and minimize the primacy of individual authorship.

In addition to the exhibition on ‘meta-curatorship’, the IEA will present the case of the Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO) via video interview recorded with the scientometrics expert Rogério Meneghini, scientific coordinator of the online academic journal base. SciELO is also subject of Meneghini’s written contribution for the UBIAS meeting.

Another Brazilian institution that will be present at the conference is the Latin American Institute for Advanced Studies (ILEA) of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, which will be presented by its director, José Vicente Tavares dos Santos.
