The Institut de Hautes Etudes de l’Amérique Latine (IHEAL) has open positions for invited scholars until November 10, 2019.
The invitation is valid for a semester-long stay (4 months from September to December 2020 or 3 months from January to March 2021). This is to allow the invited scholar to immerse him or herself into the academic life of the University.
Invited scholars are asked to teach two courses per semester, each one consisting of 24 hours. The course’s subject must be in line with the field of expertise of the invited scholar. The proposed courses might be modified according to the needs of IHEAL. Courses can be taught in French, Spanish or English.
The IHEAL receives applications in the following areas: History, Geography, Anthropology, Sociology, Economy and Political Science. For the academic year of 2020-2021, the commission will pay special attention to courses in Sociology, Gender Studies or Urban Studies, or focused on Central America, the Caribbean and Mexico are highly preferred. Visiting scholars may be invited to teach within the IHEAL’s new Masters’ program LAGLOBE (Latin America and Europe in a Global World), which benefits from the European Union support.
Invited scholars can perform scientific and academic activities in the others Departments of the Sorbonne Nouvelle-Paris 3 University, or any of the French and European Institutions with which the IHEAL collaborates upon requests.

University of Konstanz, Germany

The Zukunftskolleg is an Institute for Advanced Study at the University of Konstanz for the promotion of outstanding early career researchers in the natural sciences, humanities and social sciences. It forms a platform for interdisciplinary discourse between researchers in Germany and abroad, and provides them with resources for obtaining extramural funding. Researchers at the Zukunftskolleg perform research without administrative constraints and have the freedom to engage in meaningful exchange with other up-and-coming colleagues and with distinguished senior researchers.
The Zukunftskolleg offers:
- Three 2-year Postdoctoral Fellowships for all those in the early stage of their academic career who plan to develop and implement an independent research project. The target group consists of researchers at the postdoctoral level, who are open-minded, risk-taking and intellectually gifted, so that they can reasonably be expected to take up leading roles in academia;
- Two 5-year Research Fellowships to promote researchers with significant work experience at the postdoctoral level aiming for a career in academia. The Fellows build their own academic identity by leading an independent research group at the University of Konstanz. These fellowships are available to researchers characterised by a strong and creative mind, an ability to think and communicate beyond their own disciplines, regardless of their nationality.
Both Fellowships are open to researchers from all fields represented at the University of Konstanz.
University of Freiburg, Germany

The Freiburg Institute for Advanced Studies (FRIAS) at the University of Freiburg is announcing its seventh call for applications for the FRIAS COFUND Fellowship Programme (FCFP) and invites outstanding international senior and junior researchers from all disciplines and nationalities to apply.
Fellowships of 3 to 10 months in the senior scheme and of 12 months in the junior scheme may be applied for. Conditions are internationally competitive. All fellowships will be awarded through a highly competitive, strictly merit-based selection process. The FCFP is co-financed by the EU’s Marie S. Curie Actions COFUND Programme.

MIASA is dedicated to the topic of ‘Sustainable Governance’. In its second call for short-term fellowships MIASA welcomes applications from excellent researchers to join the interdisciplinary fellow group (IFG) “Sustainable Rural Transformation” from February to May 2020. Eligible for application are junior and senior researchers from all countries after completion of their PhD in a relevant discipline of the Humanities or the Social Sciences. Applicants must propose a research project that matches the research focus of the IFG on “Sustainable Rural Transformation in Africa”.
