Meeting discusses the loss of humanism in film and psychoanalysis

The similarities, differences and intersections between film and psychoanalysis will be discussed in the next activity of the Olavo Setubal Chair of Arts, Culture and Science, a partnership between the IEA and the Itaú Cultural Institute. On September 12, at 9.30 am, film critic and psychoanalyst Luiz Fernando Gallego will be in the IEA Events Room for the event "Film and Psychoanalysis". The debate will be in charge of psychoanalyst Alessandra Parente and cultural anthropologist Massimo Canevacci. Moderation will be in charge of sociologist and philosopher Sergio Paulo Rouanet, holder of the chair. The discussion will be broadcast live by the IEA's website.

Conference addresses women's careers in academia and science

Leila Saadé, president of the Francophone Network of Women Responsible for Higher Education and Research (RESUFF), will be at the IEA on September 15, at 2 pm, to talk about gender inequality in the university and science environment. According to her, it is not only in private enterprises that women are a minority in higher-ranking positions. The conference "Women in University and Science: Challenges and Opportunities", to be held in French, is an IEA initiative in partnership with USP Mulheres (USP Women), Institut Français in Brazil and the Consulate General of France in São Paulo.There will be live broadcast through the IEA's website.

RESEARCH

Study group will address links between health and the geographic context of cities

A new study group will analyze the health inequities and their relation to the geographical context of cities. The proposal of its creation was approved by the IEA's Board in a meeting held on August 16. The group Urban Space and Health will be coordinated by geographer Ligia Vizeu Barrozo, a professor at the Department of Geography of USP's Faculty of Philosophy, Languages and Literature, and Human Sciences (FFLCH). According to the research project, the power of maps will be used to identify and highlight health inequities mainly related to socio-economic conditions and urban morphology.
