INSTALLATION

IEA displays fossil replicas in an installation on human evolution

"Hominine Occupation," an installation with replicas of fossils from six hominins and a panel summarizing the evolution of the human species, was opened to the public in the lobby of the IEA on February 27. The organizer and curator is paleoanthropologist Walter Neves, a senior professor at the Institute. The replicas have been produced by paleoartist Rogério Corrêa de Souza. According to Neves, although hundreds of hominins have already been discovered, the six chosen ones are the most iconic in the evolutionary timeline.

INTERNATIONAL

UBIAS chooses "Dialogue" as the common theme for the member institutes in 2020

"Dialogue" is the 2020 theme of the international network of University-Based Institutes for Advanced Study (UBIAS), of which the IEA-USP is a member. The member institutes should feel encouraged to invite researchers from colleague institutes as lecturers or visiting professors, as well as to carry out joint activities between each other. Although dialogue is the basis of modern society, it is not yet clear how it will be valued in a future that can be highly regulated by artificial intelligence.
