José Eduardo Krieger - PerfilJosé Eduardo Krieger graduated from USP's Faculty of Medicine at Ribeirão Preto in 1984 and holds a Ph.D. in Physiology from the Medical College of Wisconsin (1988). His post-doctorate period in Molecular Biology was spent at Harvard Medical School (1989 -1990) and at the Stanford University School of Medicine (1990-1992). Krieger is a lecturer at the University of Sao Paulo since 1990 and the current provost for research of the institution. He is a professor of Molecular Medicine at the Department of Cardiology of USP's Faculty of Medicine. He is also the director of the Laboratory of Molecular Genetics and Cardiology at the INCOR-HCFMUSP. He is a regular member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences and President of the Academy of Sciences of the State of São Paulo. His research activities are focused on the identification of molecular markers associated with the genesis of cardiovascular diseases and the development of new therapeutic approaches for cardiac regeneration.
