Co-author of a study, a researcher at the IEA will talk about the article that predicts the possible collapse of the Amazon in 2050

The Amazon forest will lose its capacity to regenerate if it reaches a devastation rate of between 20 and 25% of its original coverage, according to climatologist Carlos Nobre, a collaborating researcher at the IEA. According to an article published on February 14 by the journal Nature, this point of no return will be reached around 2050 if another 10% is added to current deforestation. Nathália Nascimento, a postdoctoral fellow at the IEA and co-author of the study, as is Nobre, gave an interview to the Institute.
